How to add your company hierarchy?

Modified on Sat, 1 Apr, 2023 at 12:26 AM

A hierarchy is any system or organization in which people or groups are ranked one above the other according to status or authority. Businesses and corporations are organized in a hierarchical structure so management can run the company in a managed way.

In Zappyhire, you can set up your organization’s hierarchy structure by adding Business Units, Departments, and Levels. To add hierarchy, go to Settings > Company > Company hierarchy.

Entity: An entity can be a distinct and separate unit of your organization, with its legal identity, financial accounts, and reporting obligations. Your organization name will be added here as a default.

Business Unit: A  business unit is a segment or division within an organization with its own operational, strategic, and financial objectives such as Operations, HR, IT, etc. To add a new business unit, type the business unit name on the field provided, and click on Save.

Department: A Business unit can have multiple departments. For example, the IT business unit can be divided into Application development, Cyber security, etc.  You can add a new department under any existing business unit

Level: Your organization may have multiple levels of hierarchy, such as Entry level, Associate, Team lead, etc. To add a new level, type the level on the field provided, and click on Save.

You can add your hierarchy one by one, or in bulk using an excel template. The template will be provided under the Bulk Upload option.

Steps to add in bulk

Step 1: Click on “Download template for bulk upload” to download the excel template.

Step 2: Enter the names in the excel sheet and upload the sheet in the below space.

Step 3: Finally, click Save to complete the process.

Any details input here can be changed but, make sure that there are no dependencies. If the entity, business unit, or department has requisitions or jobs dependent on it, you can make the change only after modifying the dependent requisitions and jobs.
